MOSSLEY CARRHILL ROAD (north side) No. 18 and adjoining cottages numbered 1 and 3.

House and two cottages with workshop on top floor, formerly used as a school. Late C18. Hammer-dressed stone with graduated stone slate roof.

Double-depth one-bay house to right; back-to-back cottages to left. The second storey is a single workshop with separate access at the rear. Central door with square-cut surround is flanked on ground and first floors by five-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows. Five and seven-light flat-faced mullion windows to second floor. The doors to the cottages which slightly post-date No.18 are on the gable as well as a two, four and five-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window. Similar windows to rear which has a flight of stone steps giving access to workshop. One brick and one stone ridge chimney stacks.
