Description
A group of seven cottages located on High Street, dating from the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. They form an L-shaped block, with numbers 1 and 2 set at a right angle to numbers 3 to 6, which are double-pile. Numbers 4 to 7 are the earliest section of the build. These have doorways positioned to the right of a 5-light window, which have subsequently been altered to feature two wider lights on either side of a narrower central light, with the same arrangement to the first floor. Numbers 7 and 6 retain all their original mullions, and four stacks are present in this range. Number 3 is a later addition, featuring a 4-light window above a similar lower window, with a gable stack. The doorway for number 3 is located within the angled wing that connects to numbers 1 and 2. A former access door to the first floor of the angled wing has been altered into a 4-light window. The return wall of the two-cell section forming numbers 1 and 2 features doorways with sill ties, alongside 3-light windows with a single 4-light window above them on the first floor. Stone gutter brackets are present. Two stacks rise from the ridge. The rear elevation of the main range has six bays of 5-light flat-faced mullioned windows to both floors, with most of the original mullions remaining.
