Description

Hudson Fold Hall is a house dating from the early 18th century, with an addition marked with the initials "J.G." and the date 1738. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, with a stone slate roof. The original section of the house is located to the left. The front has a double-chamfered mullioned window of five lights to the ground floor, with a similar window above; both windows lack two mullions. A single chamfered mullioned window of five lights sits to the right of the original section, again with a matching window above and lacking two mullions. A central chimney stack rises from the ridge of the roof. A 19th-century addition features a higher roofline with gable stacks, coped kneelers, and gutter brackets. This addition is a single cell, double depth. The addition includes a doorway with monolithic jambs, which has been blocked to create a window. A wide two-light window with plain stone surrounds and a projecting sill is also present, along with a single light and a four-light window on the first floor. Quoins are visible. The rear of the house features a former four-light window to the left of the blocked doorway, with tie-stone jambs, and a former five-light window above. A tall stair window with a semi-circular head and expressed keystone bears a date inscription. To the left of the two-light window on the front of the addition, an original cottage doorway is present. Another two-light window with a chamfered surround features on the front of the addition. The first floor of that section has two flat-faced mullioned windows of five lights each, again lacking two mullions.
