Description
The war memorial, located on Bennett Street in Hyde, commemorates the men of Newton who lost their lives for their country during the First World War from 1914 to 1919. It is made of stone and is accompanied by iron railings. The memorial features a tall, square-shaped shaft adorned with cross motifs at the top and carved panels at the bottom. It stands on a square base that displays the inscription and rolls of honour. The railings are designed with decorative top and bottom rails and have spikes along the top.
