Description

The Railway Viaduct, built in 1841, is located immediately east of Newton Station. It was constructed for the Sheffield, Ashton-Under-Lyne and Manchester Railway. The viaduct is made of brick with ashlar dressings and features nine semi-circular arches supported by square piers, each adorned with springing bands. Additionally, there is a stone band and copings along the structure.
