Description

The Newton Wood War Memorial is a war memorial built around 1920, designed by sculptor J.J. Hirst from Denton for the Newton Wood Committee. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features an aedicular design that stands on a stepped plinth. The memorial has pediments with carved tympana on all four sides, and engaged corner antae flank the rolls of honour. At the top, there is a carved crown.
