Description

The war memorial in Dukinfield, located on The Crescent, was constructed around 1920. It is made of ashlar sandstone and features a life-size figure of a soldier in battle attire, which stands atop a tall, square, tapering shaft. The upper part of the shaft is adorned with bay leaf wreaths on three sides, while the fourth side displays an armorial shield with the inscription "To our noble dead" above and "Integrity" on a scroll below. Rolls of honour are attached to each side of the memorial, and there is an additional plaque at the base commemorating those who served in the 1939-1945 war.
