Description

The Dukinfield Hall War Memorial is located in Globe Square and is enclosed by a square arrangement of metal railings set on stone paving. Made of Yorkshire stone, the memorial stands approximately 4.3 meters high and consists of a two-stage base that is square in shape, supporting a plinth topped with a wheel-head cross. The wheel-head is held up by a broad pillar, which is adorned at the base with decorated panels and features a moulded collar at the top.

On the front (south-west) face of the wheel-head, a ribbon carved in relief displays the dedication "ENGLAND’S /CALL/ WE/ ANSWERED." Below this, a ribbon beneath a suspended laurel wreath on the front-facing panel at the foot of the pillar is inscribed with "1914 1919," followed by "IN MEMORY" and the names of 22 men who lost their lives in the First World War on the plinth. The upper stage of the base lists six additional names.

The north-west face features the inscription "IN HONOUR," with 43 names of those who served in the First World War listed below on the plinth. The south-east face also has "IN HONOUR," followed by 39 names of those who served. The north-east face bears "IN HONOUR" as well, followed by 50 names of those who served, with one additional name listed below on the upper stage of the base.
