Description
Old Hall Chapel is a church that was once the domestic chapel of Dukinfield Hall and later served as a transept of the Congregational Chapel built in 1872, both of which no longer exist. The chapel dates from the late 16th century or early 17th century and is constructed of ashlar stone with a later clay tile roof. It features a one-bay chancel and a two-bay nave, with each bay having a stepped three-light round-headed window that has cavetto-moulded mullions and segmental hoodmoulds. There is a door to the west of the nave with a chamfered surround, although the lintel is missing. The priest's door has a segmental lintel and a chamfered surround. The east window is similar to the others but has a double-chamfered design with cusped heads and an elliptical hoodmould. The building has a projecting plinth, 19th-century eaves gutter brackets, and coped gables with kneelers. Inside, there is a double-chamfered semi-circular chancel arch. The 19th-century hammer-beam roof has suffered fire damage, and the rest of the interior is in a derelict condition.
