Description

The war memorial, located in front of the former Town Hall, was erected around 1920. It features a marble statue of a robed female figure holding a book in one hand, which stands on a polished granite base. The statue is set on a tapering square stone plinth. An inscription on the memorial states: "erected on behalf of the town by Alderman and Mrs. J.A. Bottomley". The memorial is surrounded by plain iron railings.
