Description
The War Memorial, dating from around 1921, is located approximately 15 meters north of the Town Hall in Wallingford's Market Place. It features a stone structure with a bronze statue of a female figure holding a wreath, attributed to Geo. Alexander. The memorial has a square stepped base and a square plinth adorned with bronze panels displaying names on each side, along with a decorative frieze at the top. Surrounding the base is a shallow stone plinth that forms four circular flower beds. This surround was originally the base of a pillar that marked the location where bulls were baited, which is now located in the Bullcroft.
