Description

Micklehurst Bridge and Lock Number W13 is a lock and tail bridge built between 1794 and 1797, designed by the engineer Benjamin Outram. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone. The lock features grooves for stop planks and has recesses for gates, although the gates are no longer present and the lock has been largely filled in during the 20th century. The bridge itself has an elliptical arch, a stone band, and side walls that are curved in plan. These walls have rounded copings and are finished with battered square piers.
