Description
The war memorial located west of the junction with Billy Hill is a Grade II listed structure that features a granite pedestal and statue, along with walls and railings. The memorial includes a life-size seated figure of a woman dressed in classical drapery, depicted in a dejected posture with her right hand holding a wreath. This figure stands on a tall square pedestal that has a wide base, a swag-decorated frieze, and a wide cornice. The names of those who died in the conflicts of 1914-1919 and 1939-1945 are inscribed on the pedestal. Surrounding the memorial is a wrought iron rail supported by four short posts on a step. The curb is adorned with four low piers, each topped with pyramidal copings, and features raised rusticated panels in the center of each block. The enclosure consists of plain railings and a gate, which have flattened pointed heads and square principals with pointed heads.
