Description
The war memorial, dating from around 1918, is constructed from Portland stone. It features a life-size figure of a soldier with hands resting on a rifle, standing on a pedestal approximately 4 meters high. The pedestal is adorned with unfluted Corinthian columns at each corner, which support an entablature with a wide cornice. There is a low square step leading up to the plinth. The names of the fallen from the 1914-1918 and 1939-1945 conflicts are inscribed on all sides of the pedestal. One side is dedicated to Billy Row, another to Grahamley, one to Roddymoor, and the last to the White Lea district. Above each panel, there is a fluted frieze and a laurel wreath.
