SJ 99 SW WERNETH PEAK FOREST CANAL Romiley 1/223 No. 15 (West entrance to Hydebank - tunnel)

Tunnel entrance. Between 1794 and 1801. Benjamin Outram and Thomas Brown engineers. Dressed stone. Semi-circular arch, 2 projecting stone bands. The parapet wall is of large stones with a rounded head and terminates at one end in a square pier and sweeps round at the other incorporating a set of stone steps.
