Description
Lower Dale Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1719, as indicated by the datestone bearing the names David and Martha Sidebottom. The front of the building is made of dressed stone, while the other three sides are rendered rubble, topped with a 20th-century tiled roof. It has a double-depth central-staircase layout and stands two storeys tall. The central entrance features a semi-circular keystone arch and a recessed porch. On the first floor, there are three-light casement windows that enhance the building's symmetry. Gable stacks are present on the roof. Inside, the farmhouse retains timber-framed partitions with wattle and daub infill, along with a large ovolo-moulded beam that has stepped stops, which likely originate from an earlier structure on the site.
