Description

This barn, located immediately northwest of Hydebank Farmhouse, dates back to 1655, as indicated by the datestone in the gable. It is constructed from roughly coursed dressed stone with red sandstone quoins and features a stone slate roof. The barn consists of three bays with opposed cart entries, and there are shippons at either end that include haylofts above. It has a projecting stone plinth, a cart entry with a timber lintel, and a door at each end with stone lintels. There is one 19th-century window and a blocked door opening. The right gable is coped and features kneelers, a two-light chamfered stone mullion window, and a 20th-century lean-to addition. The original roof construction is supported by pegged oak trusses.
