Description

Pinfold Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates partly from the early 17th century, with later extensions and rebuilding from the early and late 18th century. It is constructed of dressed stone and hammer-dressed watershot stone, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The building has a single-depth plan, three storeys high, and consists of three bays, with lean-to extensions on the right gable and the front right and left sides.

The third bay contains the earliest work, featuring a 4-light double-chamfered stone mullion window, although two of the mullions are missing, and it has a hoodmould with upturned ends. The second bay, which is a later addition, retains a 2-light double-chamfered mullion window next to an inserted 18th-century door. The first bay, likely added in the late 18th century, was probably when the loom workshop was incorporated into the upper floors of the second and third bays.

Other openings in the farmhouse include 6, 10, and 13-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows, as well as two blocked taking-in doors. The building features two ridge chimney stacks, coped gables, and kneelers. The rear of the farmhouse also displays evidence of various construction periods, with 2, 3, 4, 5, and 10-light windows similar to those at the front.
