Description
Bunkers Farmhouse is a late 18th-century laithe-house with 20th-century alterations, located on the north side of Tunstead Lane in Saddleworth. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. It is a one-bay, three-storey house with a former laithe on the right, a 20th-century extension on the left, and a former dairy wing at the rear. Architectural details include quoins, a coped gable with kneelers, and a gable chimney stack. The first bay has three windows with flat-faced stone mullions, comprising four, five, and four lights. The second bay features a winnowing door, which now serves as the front door, with a corbelled lintel and a 20th-century window above it. To the right, there are 20th-century garage doors and five-light windows at the rear, including one above the cart entry, which is also of 20th-century origin. The cart entry has been glazed and has a segmental-arched head, along with two-light gable windows. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
