Description

Higher Tunstead is an early 18th-century house located in Saddleworth. The house is constructed of roughly dressed stone with a roof of graduated stone slates. It has a two-bay, two-storey layout, with an entrance in each gable. The corners are emphasised by quoins. The ground floor has windows of 2, 4, and 2 lights, while the first floor has two 3-light windows. All windows have double-chamfered, cavetto-moulded stone mullions, except for one which is flat-faced. A gable stack features water-tabling and an oversailing course. A blocked door is present, along with a blocked attic light and a 2-light, flat-faced stone mullion window to the left gable. The right gable is obscured by a 20th-century porch. A blocked window is visible at the rear of the building.
