Description

Two houses, Numbers 2 and 4 Bunkers, were built in the late 18th century. They are located on the north side of Tunstead Lane in Saddleworth. The houses are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. They are single and double-depth, with a total of three storeys and six bays. Number 2 has been pebble-dashed, obscuring the stonework. It has a variety of three-, four- and five-light mullion windows. Quoins are visible at the rear of the lower storeys. A workshop was added to the second floor of Number 2 later, featuring a large, recessed flat-faced stone mullion window with 21 lights. Number 4 is double-depth and has a central door with a dressed surround. It has five-light mullion windows in bays 1 and 3, and a two-light window in bay 2. All the windows have recessed flat-faced stone mullions. Chimney stacks rise from the ridge.
