Description
Hollin Greave Farmhouse is a late 18th-century laithe-house located in Dobcross, Saddleworth. It is constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and features a graduated stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and is composed of l-bays, with a barn and shippon to the right, which are now part of the house, and a 20th-century flat-roofed garage attached to the right gable. The farmhouse has quoins and a 19th-century lean-to on the left that obscures the original entrance.
On the first floor, there is a 5-light recessed flat-faced mullion window. To the right, there are round-headed doors for the barn and shippon. The gable has 2 and 4-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows, while the rear features two similar 5-light windows. An opposed barn door at the rear has been altered and is concealed by a glazed lean-to, with a 20th-century window inserted above it. The building has coped gables with kneelers, a gable chimney stack, and one ball finial. The farmhouse is included for its group value.
