Shippon 30 Metres East of Riley Bank Farmhouse

The building is a shippon located 30 metres east of Riley Bank farmhouse, likely dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed sandstone and features a replaced asbestos roof. The structure has two storeys plus an attic and includes flush quoins. Some openings on the lower storey have been blocked or altered. There are two boarded sliding doors, one boarded divided door, and small-pane iron hopper windows, most of which are set under wedge lintels, although the window to the left is under a flat arch with voussoirs. The shippon has seven pitching-eyes for the hayloft, each with projecting stone surrounds, as well as loophole vents and a blocked pitching eye in each end gable. At the rear, there is an open-ended lean-to shed with a stone wall that has been partly rebuilt in brick. This shippon, along with the other farm buildings, forms an attractive group.
