Description

The building is a shippon, or cattle shed, located immediately north of Riversbridge Farmhouse, likely built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from local stone rubble and features a slate roof with gabled ends, with the eaves lower at the front. The shippon has a long rectangular plan, built into the bank at the back, and includes doorways at the front for access. Above, there is a loft that can be accessed from a doorway at the northeast end, where the ground level is higher due to the building's position. At the northeast end, there is a lean-to roof-house built against the bank, which includes a shoot. The exterior consists of two storeys, with a row of shippon doorways at the front, each featuring cambered timber lintels. There are no openings on the first floor at the front. The loft doorway at the right end has double doors, and the roof-house at the lower level also has a lean-to roof. The interior was not inspected, but the shoot from the roof-house was visible.
