Description
This building is a shippon located immediately north of South Ash Farmhouse, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of cob on a tall stone rubble plinth and features a hipped roof made of corrugated iron. The shippon has a rectangular plan with a central entrance at the front.
The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical north front that includes a central doorway and a loft door above. On either side of the ground floor doorway are small square windows, all of which have wooden lintels. The rear wall is blind.
Inside, there are three roughly chamfered cross-beams that support the loft floor, and wooden mangers are located on the rear wall of the shippon. The roof structure includes straight principals with halved lapped collars.
