Description
Laurel Cottage is a cottage, probably from the 18th century, constructed of rendered stone rubble and cob, topped with a thatch roof featuring gable end brick stacks. The layout consists of three rooms arranged in a line, with a small unheated central room that is divided to create a passage connecting the two end rooms. The staircase is located at the rear of the passage, accessible from the rear right-hand corner of the left end room. It is possible that the cottage was once occupied by two separate households. The building has two storeys and a three-window range, with variously paned two-light casements. The entrance features a plank door, with the upper two panels glazed. Inside, much of the 19th-century joinery remains intact, although the fireplaces have been concealed in the mid-20th century.
