Description
ALLOSTOCK C.P. MIDDLEWICH ROAD SJ 77 SW 2/11 Bradshawbrook Farm House - II Farmhouse mid C17, with later alterations and additions. Rendered brickwork and replaced timbers with roof of small slates. 2 storeys. 3 bays. The end bays are gabled, based on the original"H" plan, but subsequent rear additions have produced a double-depth plan. Timbers in close studding with middle rail, slightly jettied at first floor level, in the original form but new wholly in softwood. The centre bay is recessed but a C20 lean-to roof covers a framed and battened door and a tripartite sash. There is a second tripartite sash, in the centre bay, at first floor level. Gables have 3-light casements with centre night vents. Gable barge boards, lead valleys and large stack with divided flues. Interior: Timbers in small framing, in internal walls. Wide boarded doors on HL or strap hinges. Bevelled beams. Straight flight of C19 stairs with turned balusters and rosewood handrail. Timbers in internal walls at first floor level also wide boarded and ledged and battened doors. There are also C19 four-panel doors at both levels. Roof has original purlins, wind braces and ridge tree.
