Description

Bradshawbrook Farm House is a farmhouse from the mid-17th century, with later alterations and additions. The building features rendered brickwork and replaced timbers, topped with a roof of small slates. It is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with the end bays gabled. The original "H" plan has been modified by subsequent rear additions, resulting in a double-depth layout. The timbers are arranged in close studding with a middle rail and are slightly jettied at the first floor level, though they are newly constructed in softwood.

The centre bay is recessed and features a 20th-century lean-to roof that covers a framed and battened door, along with a tripartite sash window. There is another tripartite sash window in the centre bay at the first floor level. The gables have three-light casements with central night vents, and the gable barge boards, lead valleys, and a large stack with divided flues add to the architectural detail.

Inside, the timbers are arranged in small framing within the internal walls. The doors are wide boarded and fitted with HL or strap hinges, and the beams are bevelled. A straight flight of 19th-century stairs with turned balusters and a rosewood handrail leads to the upper level. The internal walls at the first floor also feature wide boarded and ledged and battened doors, alongside 19th-century four-panel doors at both levels. The roof retains its original purlins, wind braces, and ridge tree.
