Description
The farmhouse dates to the mid-17th century, with later alterations. It is constructed of brick nogged timber frame and brickwork, with a tile roof. The building is two storeys and an attic, originally with three bays, though a later addition to the north-west creates a fourth bay, which is entirely brick. A rear wing of brickwork completes a "T" shaped plan. The timber framing exhibits a small framing style with angle braces. The front entrance has a contemporary hardwood door consisting of eight panels, sheltered by a bracketed hood with a pitched tiled roof. Ground floor windows are sash windows with exposed weight boxes and glazing bars, and one is a three-light flush casement with glazing bars. First floor windows are two-light flush casements. Stacked chimneys are located in the gable ends of the original timber framed house. A lean-to has been added to the south-east gable, above which is a roof truss with four studs between the tie beam and collar. Inside, there are bevelled beams and exposed ceiling joists in two rooms, along with later chamfered beams and timbers in the internal walls. Wide boarded doors are fitted with HL hinges. The first floor features exposed roof timbers, a Jacobean style two-panel door on HL hinges, and ledged and battened doors.
