Description
Delamere School is a building dated 1846, constructed from red sandstone ashlar. It features a fishscale purple tile roof and an octagonal stone chimney, with a T-shaped plan. The front is symmetrical with six bays and is one storey high. It has a chamfered plinth and a band at the eaves that includes a plain parapet with triangular coping, which rises to form gables with tall octagonal finials above the second and fifth bays. These bays have canted bay windows with mullions, transoms, and cinquefoil-headed lights, while the remaining bays contain similar two-light windows. The centre of the building displays a date plaque in the parapet and a bellcote on the ridge. The gables are adorned with three-light mullioned and transomed windows. There are modern extensions at the rear. Inside, the space is open to the roof with movable screens that allow for subdivision.
