Description
The south terrace and complex of walls at Tirley Garth were built around 1912 by T H Mawson for R A Prestwich. The structure features raised terrace and revetment walls made of dressed, irregularly coursed red sandstone blocks, along with York stone paving. A central flight of 11 segmental steps projects semi-circularly from the terrace wall. On either side, the walls have open parapets and symmetrically placed rectangular projections. At both ends, there are flights of steps and walls with open parapets that extend forward. The terrace includes crazy-paving and edgings for formal beds. In the south west corner, there is a small sunken rectangular garden with steps.
