Description

The stables, dating from approximately 1818 with a later 19th-century extension, are located on the south side of the Chester Road in Oakmere. The main section of the stables is constructed of rubble sandstone, while the extensions are built of ashlar. They have a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. The front facade is two storeys high and features three bays. A central cart entrance is defined by a segmental arched doorway. There is a door and window to the left, and a door to the right. Above these openings are three circular pitchholes. A lean-to addition to the left side matches the roofline and contains a pair of doors with fielded panels. A smaller lean-to extension is present on the right side. The rear elevation is similar in appearance. The stables are listed for their contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
