Description

No 7 Vicarage Street and The Minster CE Primary School, built around 1846 in a 15th-century style, is a two-storey building with an attic. It is constructed from ashlar Bath stone and features a tiled roof with an ashlar chimney. The right side of the front has a small gable with moulded coping that contains a small attic window, and there are two-light casements on each floor, with a drip mould over the first-floor windows and a larger casement on the ground floor. To the right on the ground floor, there is an entrance with a pointed arch and a door featuring decorative hingework. The drip of the ground floor window extends down about one-third on each side to meet a moulded string that runs across the front, which breaks over the doorway to the right and a large archway to the left.

The left side of the front features a large rectangular bay window with two sets of six pointed stone mullioned lights and a stone-tiled flat roof above. This wall rises to a pierced balustrade with a circular quatrefoil pattern and moulded coping. In the left corner, there is a large three-centred pointed yard entry with panel spandrels and a drip mould with head stops; above this is a small pointed attic window in a small belfry. Below the passage, there is a door from the former No 5, which also has decorative hingework. The rear of the building is brick-built with some older stonework, featuring two mullion windows and a catslide roof. There are various later extensions in brick and stone, with mullion windows and slate roofs dating from around 1880.
