Description
The building is a workshop located at the rear of Number 6, reputedly once the office of a quarry foreman. It likely dates from the late 17th century and has been altered over time. The structure is made of brown brick in an irregular bond and features a slate roof. Access is from the west side of Number 2, although it was originally approached from a long, narrow rear wing of Number 6. The workshop is two storeys tall and has a narrow rectangular plan, standing on a tall base of bedrock that projects into the former quarry of the cathedral. The north end has a boarded door beneath a cambered brick head. There are leaded lattice casements in timber frames, with one located at the south end and one on the west side of the first storey, as well as one at the south end and one on the west side of the second storey. The interior contains minor features from the 19th century and possibly some from the 17th century.
