Description
Little Abbey Gateway is a gate arch and part of the precinct wall of the former Abbey of St Werburgh, which is now the Cathedral Church of Christ & the Blessed Virgin Mary. This structure dates back to the 14th century and is constructed from coursed red sandstone. The entry features a basket arch with an eroded chamfer on the street side, and on the inner face, there is a rebate that once held the gate, along with eroded slots that may have been used for hinges or bars. The gateway is included at a high grade due to its historic significance.
