Description
Nos. 1 and 2 City Walls is a shop and workshop that was partially used as living accommodation, built around 1800. It is constructed of English garden wall bond brown brick and topped with a grey slate roof. The building has three storeys plus an attic.
The west end facing Northgate Street features a modest shopfront with a door made up of two glazed panels above two flush panels, and a one-pane shop window above a panelled stall-riser. There are three pilasters, with the second storey showcasing a flush 12-pane sash window alongside a casement window with two one-pane lights. The third storey has three similar casement windows, and there is one in the gable for the attic.
On the side facing the City Wall, the second storey has a shop window consisting of three rows of five panes, complete with a timber sill and pilaster case. There is a stone step leading to a door with two glazed panels above two flush panels, and a hood above it. Additionally, there is a possibly inserted door with two glazed panels above two flush panels. The third storey features two small-pane sash windows and a small fixed light. The interiors do not have any visible features of special interest.
