Description
This is a pre-conquest cross, likely from the 11th century, located on the parish boundary, 145 meters southeast of the junction with Macclesfield Road. The cross is made of buff sandstone and stands approximately 1.3 meters high. It features a tapering circular shaft with a raised band just above the midpoint. The four faces above this band have been cut and may show traces of carving, although the top of the cross is broken off. The cross was slightly relocated when the road was widened around 1935. Part of this cross is situated in the former Macclesfield Urban District.
