Description

This cross, located approximately 350 meters northwest of the Hall in Heaton, is believed to date from the 12th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is made of gritstone and stands about 2 meters high on a circular base. The shaft is tapered and circular, featuring double strings at the shoulder that transition into a square broken head, which is capped by a mid-19th century square cross. There are deep indentations on the north side, one of which has been filled with lead.
