Description
Lane House Farmhouse is a house, probably dating from the early 17th century, that has been altered. It is constructed of reddish-buff coursed rubble sandstone and has a roof made of Kerridge stone slate, featuring gable chimneys made of brick. The building has one and a half storeys with three windows on the lower level and two on the upper level.
The lower window on the right has a wooden casement set in what is likely an altered doorway, which has a recessed chamfered stone surround at the upper part of the current opening. The central lower window, originally designed with five lights and a chamfered lintel, jambs, and cill, retains one surviving recessed chamfered mullion. The left lower window is an inserted wooden casement, and there is a blocked three-light window to the left of center.
On the upper storey, the right window has five lights (with one blocked), while the left window has four lights; both feature recessed chamfered mullions. A single-storey shed made of the same materials extends forward on the left side. The rear wing on the right has shaped kneelers and a stone gable chimney. Inside, the parlour features chamfered oak beams.
