Description
The farm building located southwest of Wincle Grange, likely dating from the late 17th century, has undergone significant alterations. It features reddish squared rubble sandstone walls and has been re-roofed with Staffordshire blue clay tiles. Originally, it was two stories high, probably serving as a shippon with some accommodation for laborers on the upper floor. The building has four door openings with massive stone lintels, and the two central openings have slightly arched soffits. There are traces of a stone-mullioned window in the former upper storey, which has ovolo jambs and head. On the right side, there are small extensions with a monopitch roof, and on the left, there is a section with a ridged roof that projects forward. The upper floor has since been removed, and part of the building was used as a chapel for a period.
