Description

This is a late 17th-century farmhouse, although a date of 1600 is inscribed on a plaque. It appears to be a former cross wing of a larger house, and was altered in the 19th century. The farmhouse is built of washed and rendered brick on a rubble plinth, with a frame of buff sandstone rubble. The roof is Kerridge stone slate, with a stone ridge and two brick chimneys.

The two-storey, single-bay front has raised bands marking the first and second floors. A 6-light stone-mullioned window sits below a pair of irregular segmental relieving arches. Above is a similar 4-light window, and the plaque reading "JRS 1600". The right end of the front has a mix of 2 and 3-light horizontal sliding sash windows, and a half-glazed door set under a cambered head.

Inside, chamfered ceiling beams rest on chamfered posts, supported by brick partition walls.
