Description

Walnut Tree Farmhouse is a 1742 farmhouse with alterations from the early 19th century and 20th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, set upon a rubble stone plinth, with a Welsh slate roof and four gable brick chimneys. The building has a double-pile plan and a symmetrical three-bay front. The end bays each contain 16-pane sash windows with flat, wedged stone heads and stone sills. A simple wooden Doric porch shelters the central bay, which features a 20th-century semi-circular fanlight with radial glazing bars and a half-glazed door. Above the door is a 12-pane sash window with a matching head and sill, surmounted by a date plaque reading WEB 1742. The right-hand gable has two circular windows to the attic space.
