SJ 68 SE ANTROBUS C.P. CROWLEY

3/4 Barn, stable and cartshed 10 metres north of Crowley Grange -

GV II

Farm building containing barn, stable and cartshed, late C17 and late C18 or early C19. Brown brick with stone-slate roof. The barn, of late C17 type, has flush sandstone quoins to 2/3 height, threshing porch to yard with oak lintel in original position above opening now reduced in height; inserted double doors; hopper casement; boarded loading door to loft; diamond vent. Right gable-end (seen from yard) has boarded divided door with loading door above; concrete loading-platform added on brick piers; small wood casement to each side. Face to road has blocked threshing-floor doorway, 2 inserted windows, 2 rows of diamond vents to loft. Left gable-end (seen from yard) has blocked central tall opening, boarded door left and 2 inserted windows. Former stable and cartshed, probably early C19, has no features of special interest. Interior of barn: 3 repaired kingpost trusses with oak tie,-beams; oak purlins and diagonally set ridgepiece. Included for group value.
