Description
Crowley Green Cottage is a cottage that likely dates from the early 17th century and was altered by the Arley estate in the late 19th century. It features brick-nogged oak small framing, which has been partly rebuilt in local brick, set on a flush sandstone plinth, and has a clay tile roof. The cottage is one storey high with attic bedrooms and comprises three rooms plus a later rear wing on the left. The right gable end displays a full cruck. The door and windows have been replaced but are in keeping with the original style and are set in unaltered openings. A later 19th-century gabled open porch supported by brackets is present, and there is a central gabled dormer with a three-light window featuring moulded brick mullions. A flush gable chimney is located on the right, while a ridge chimney is positioned between the central and left rooms.
Inside, the layout follows a lobby-entrance plan with an altered inglenook in the central room. This room also contains three unstopped ovolo beams, along with other oak beams. The staircase has been altered, and there are HL hinges present. A wattle and daub partition separates the central and right rooms.
