Description
The farm building at The Firs dates from the late 17th century. It features a stone plinth and a timber frame with brick infill, topped with a slate roof. The building has a two-storey plan, with a shippon on the ground floor and a loft above. The front facade consists of 11 by 3 cells of small framing, with angle braces at the upper corners. There is a central gabled loft door from the 19th century, and a 19th-century addition to the left. The right gable end has 4 by 3 cells of small framing, with both angle and tension bracing; one of the tension braces is interrupted by a 19th-century doorway. The rear also has 11 by 3 cells of small framing with angle braces at the corners, featuring doors to the right, left, and left of centre, along with a 19th-century addition to the right.
