Description

The milestone at the west corner of the fountain, dated 1898, is made of cast iron and has a triangular shape with a sloping top. The left vertical face indicates distances to Stockport and Manchester, while the right vertical face shows distances to Whaley Bridge and Buxton. The top of the milestone features the inscription "Cheshire County Council" along with the date. This milestone is listed for its group value only.
