Description
17 Buxton Old Road is a former pair of cottages, now a single house, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed from coursed squared buff sandstone rubble and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with two plastered stone chimneys. It is two stories high and originally consisted of two units arranged in a line. The windows are three-light horizontal sliding sashes without glazing bars, but they have applied lead lattice. The doors were originally central; however, the left door has been blocked, and a two-light sliding sash has been inserted. To the right, there is a gabled porch that is in keeping with the 20th-century alterations. The interior contains no notable features. This building was originally identical to the pair of cottages located opposite at 14/16 Buxton Old Road and both were part of the Lyme Park Estate.
