Description
Nos 12, 14, and 16 on Buxton Old Road are two cottages that were originally built in the late 18th century, with a 19th-century addition. They are constructed from coursed, squared buff sandstone rubble and feature a Kerridge stone-slate roof with a stone ridge, which is interrupted by three stone chimneys. The cottages are two stories tall and arranged in a line, each with two units. The windows are three-light, horizontal sliding sashes that include glazing bars. The original doorways are concealed by a 20th-century lean-to porch that matches the style of the cottages. At the rear of the original pair of cottages, there are two-light, square-section, mullioned windows. These cottages were originally part of the Lyme Park estate, similar to No. 17 located across the road.
