Description
The extension to the Parish Hall, formerly an infant school, dates from 1834. It is built from coursed, squared sandstone rubble with sandstone dressings and features a stone-coped roof made of Kerridge stone-slate, complete with a stone ridge and two stone chimneys. The building is two stories high with a symmetrical, three-bay front, although part of it is now hidden. It has two-light, chamfered mullioned windows that are topped with hood moulds, and a chamfered doorcase with a hood mould that contains a framed and boarded pine door. A central tablet under the hood mould reads: "THE ENLARGEMENT of this Building was Erected BY ELLEN ORFORD, RICHARD ORFORD, THOMAS ORFORD. By whom this school was Endowed. A.D. 1834". The interior has been significantly altered.
