Description
Saltersley Hall Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century, with additions from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of sandstone and whitewashed brick, topped with a slate roof. The building has a three-cell, two-storey layout with a through hall.
The entrance front features a stone ground floor and three brick gables on the first floor, along with a string course and stone corbels. The front door, located to the left of center, has a massive splayed lintel. There are three 3-light mullioned casement windows on the ground floor, two of which on the right have 20th-century stone surrounds. The first floor also has three 3-light mullioned casement windows, each with splayed heads. The ridge beam and purlin ends are exposed at the gables, and there is a chimney stack at the extreme right side.
On the rear elevation, there is a doorway to the right of center, aligned with the front door, which also features a massive splayed lintel. A chimney stack is located on the left with offsets to the sides, and there is a 20th-century new brick flue at the top, originally having two flues. The house has 19th and 20th-century extensions to both the left and right.
Inside, the ground floor ceilings have chamfered beams, and there is a large lintel over the fireplace in the parlour. The interior stone walls are visible on the ground floor, with small framing for dividing walls. The roof truss consists of a tie beam, king post, and arch braces, along with windbracing.
