Description
Lease Farm Cottage is a 17th-century farmhouse and labourers' cottage, altered in the 20th century and now used as a house. It is timber-framed with a brick plinth, a thatched roof, and a brick chimney. The building has a long, rectangular plan, with the core consisting of a two-room gable-entry house. The south front is 1½ storeys high and four bays wide. The left-hand bay is lower and represents the original labourers' cottage, featuring a 20th-century board door within a roughly-built wooden frame and a three-light dormer swept by the thatched roof. The remaining bays have three 20th-century casement windows on the ground floor, with a gabled half-dormer above. A 20th-century addition forms the right-hand bay. Inside, a chamfered heck post and fire beam are visible with a shouldered lintel over the former gable-entry. The interior also contains chamfered ceiling beams. A three-light mullioned window with square-sectioned wooden mullions is now internally placed and does not appear to have original glazing.
